Elabac needs guards for his caravan. In theory, it's just the usual guard duty, but in reality Elabac has much greater things in mind. He hopes to achieve immortality so that he can finish crafting the perfect item, thereby releasing the Solani from the Weight of the Curse. His goal is to travel to Ventaka in Canceri and entreat Akali Vervain for immortality as an undead being.

The journey is treacherous. Reavers attack Elabac in the hopes of thwarting his quest. Nierites attack Ventaka just as the Player Characters arrive, adding to the confusion. Kham, Vlad, and Quintus nearly die in the attempt.

Thanks to Helac val'Mordane's last minute advice and a warning from Kham val'Abebi, Elabac changes his mind. So the quest is for naught, although Vlad is exceptionally pleased to receive one of Elabac's legendary blades.
