Beldin Soulforge was a mere follower of the estemeed craftsman Elabac before fate took an interesting turn. At first, Beldin was dismissed from Solanos Mor when Elabac chose Alsef as his apprentice. But then, Alsef was betrayed by Jarel, ending in the death of Elabac's apprentice. Beldin was next in line for the honor and has recently taken up Elabac's duties as master forger in his spare time.

Beldin has a strict moral code that often clashes with the looser ethics of his comrades. He is close friends with Sebastian Arnyal, who was taken in by Elabac when he fled Canceri. Unfortunately, Beldin swore an oath to keep a secret from Sebastian, and for a brief time the dark-kin felt he could no longer trust Beldin.

Conversely, Sebastian only recently revealed that he belongs to the Shield, a secret society dedicated to hiding the magically gifted from the Harvesters of Ymandragore. The lack of trust hurt Beldin, and both friends stopped talking for awhile.

They resolved their differences recently, when Beldin sacrificed his life to save Sebastian in the titanic battle against the Canceri Magister Mortis known as Tomas Hariot. Beldin returned to life through his soul shard, thanks to Sebastian's quick thinking.

The two are now fast friends. Beldin even forged an ironshod quarterstaff for Sebastian in thanks. The dwarf is also the only ally of the aloof IlmarÄ— Galen, who is often the only other "elder race" she can commiserate with.

As befitting a Solani dwarf, Beldin has sacrificed much in the defense of his allies. It was he who gave his blood to Alissstar to bring about the Sign of Yig. It was he who was was corrupted by Tomas Hariot's dark necromancy. Beldin has been poisoned, speared, fried, and frozen, but his continued existence is proof positive that you can't keep a good dwarf down.
