Captain Bezyli val'Ossan was originally Captain of the Shrike. He has a habit of walking with one arm behind his back, shrieks at his crew, and refuses to consort with them. In essence, Bezyli is a nobleman captain, all talk and no action.
Bezyli was turned to stone by a mysterious flying woman. His statue subsequently slid off the deck and disappeared into the sea, lost forever. Nobody mourned his loss.
Ironically, Bezyli is know more for what he left behind than the life he lived. It was Bezyli's dagger that Baldric gave to IlmarÄ— Galen , and it was that same weapon that she used to finish Bezyli's murderer. Thus, the circle is complete.
