Brendis pretended to be a friend of Rurik val'Tensen, but in reality he was a hired assassin with the sole task of eliminating Acastus val'Assante for trying to unify the Mother Church. His assassination worked, utterly destroying Acastus' body and soul. Quintus Aurelius Ignatius eventually caught up to him, and after a brief interrogation, slit the young man's throat.
Quintus claims he executed the man on the spot because he was a fanatic who could provide no further useful information, but since Brendis was last seen flirting with IlmarÄ— Galen, the elorii's not so sure.
