- Adventures: Madness in Freeport, Cut-Throat's Gold
- Race: Freeport ssanu
- Class: Rogue
- Description: Emric II is about a foot high and is easily mistaken for a snake, except when he stands upright--then it's obviously he is a ssanu, with a pair of tiny arms and legs. Emric II can't speak yet, but he can squeak, which he does often.
It all started with an egg. Kham val'Abebi sensed that one of the few eggs left in the Temple of Yig might still be intact. He even joked about it. "Maybe I'll have me some scrambled eggs for breakfast," he said. So he took the egg and then promptly forgot about it when the Unspeakable One nearly destroyed Freeport.
Kham defeated Milton Drac and was able to place the Jade Serpent of Yig on the projection crystal of Milton's Folly, projecting the image of Yig all throughout Freeport instead of the maddening Yellow Sign. This had two effects: it soothed the madness incurred by the Yellow Sign, making most citizens forget they ever saw it, and it caused the ssanu egg to hatch and grow at an accelerated rate.
K'Stallo believes that the baby ssanu is, in fact, the incarnation of Yig made flesh. Thus, when Kham took the amulet of the serpent without asking, K'Stallo knew it was a sign that the val was destined to be the child's father. But who would be its mother?
The answer came when Kham traveled to Calactyte's village in the Sulfur Marsh. The baby ssanu stowed away in Kham's coat, revealing himself only before Alissstar and Krisharr. After Kham and Calactyte defeated Tomas Hariot, it fell to the two to name the ssanu. And name him they did: Emric II.
And the mother? That'd be Calactyte.
