Well-versed in the ways of the rich musical heritage of her people, she is an extraordinary singer and a deadly warrior. True to her roots, Ilmare refuses to sing in Low Coryan, but instead in her native tongue. Despite the fact that few people can understand what she sings, her music is so powerful that they are still deeply moved.

Ilmare is an Osalikene, which means the blood of Osalian flows in her veins. She has an affinity with creatures of the air and water, storm and wind, which she regularly summons to assist her.

Ilmare disdains just about everyone and everything, although some people have started to grow on her. In particular, she has learned to tolerate (barley) Kham val'Abebi and Beldin Soulforge and Vlad Martell. She has strong feelings for Quintus Aurelius Ignatius and often stays at his farm. Ilmare's racial prejudices are at odds with her potential romance with the straight-laced legionnaire, but she has difficulty denying her attraction to him. Further complicating things is Ilmare's belief that there will be a war between humans and elorii.

As an elorii, Ilmare has lived many lives, including one as KildarÄ—, a scout and sniper in the employ of Nevanos the Slayer.
