Japheth overreached himself. He thought the Player Characters were an easy mark. He had Nikko spike their drinks with oil of taggit, knocking out Baldric and his crew.
The problem was that it didn't work. Beldin Soulforge could drink anything and not be affected, Sebastian Arnyal's physiology was too bizarre, and IlmarÄ— Galen was too paranoid to drink anything in a strange place. Japheth tried to demand the rubbings that the PCs won from Oswald the Beggar-King, but Beldin disagreed...and promptly beheaded Japheth.
