Kenzil was originally a professor at the Freeport Institute, but he fell upon hard times. When he realized he could sell his services to the highest bidder, Kenzil began casting evocation spells for a fee, no questions asked.
Kenzil eventually became quite paranoid about his own welfare and paid Captain Drak Scarbelly to retrieve a staff of defense for him. When Kham stole the staff, Kenzil flew into a rage and struck Scarbelly with a fireball, leaving him for dead. In truth, Scarbelly lost an eye and and a leg to the attack but survived.
Kenzil was later hired by Montague Edwards to create several time bombs (in reality, delayed blast fireballs) to be delivered to the enemies of the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign. Foremost among these with The Last Resort, Falthar's Curios, and Corinalous val'Abebi.
Power like Kenzil's was far too dangerous to allow to exist for long. Michael Coombs betrayed Kenzil and slew him while he slept. Kenzil's legacy was the bombs he left for Freeport.
