Councilor Verlaine has made a big deal about the destruction of the old ssanu temple. Too big a deal for Egil's tastes.
Something has been rooting around in Lucius' room. Egil's concerned and asks for his good friend Kham val'Abebi to investigate. Kham obliges, tracking down what was another of Milos' alter egos, Devlin. In Devlin's old room, they discover a book that explains how Milton's Folly works. It's not long before the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign decides to steal it.
Giving chase, the Player Characters end up back at the old temple of the Yellow Sign, where they discover it is not as empty as they might have thought. There, they find a crate full of magical bricks, with an address that leads to Verlaine's home.
The PCs decide to look up more on Verlaine by asking Reed the Record Keeper. Reed doesn't comply fast enough for Kham's tastes, so he shoots him in the leg. Then Sebastian administers a healing potion, and the terrifyingly effective combination of thug/healer interrogation technique is born. Immediately thereafter, Verlaine's guards attempt to arrest Kham, whereupon he shoots the Guard Captain dead. With Brother Egil's help, the PCs flee into the sewers.
He leads them right into a trap, a machine created by Ambrose to mass-prouduce magical bricks...or crush people. Thanks to Bijoux's quick-thinking, she manages to save them all. Unfortunately, Calactyte is severely wounded. Sebastian Arnyal and Bijoux take Cal back to a safehouse.
IlmarÄ— Galen joins the PCs in the pursuit of the real Egil, who is about to be sacrificed. They save Egil just in time, then venture up a ramp right to Verlaine's house. Verlaine's already dead, assassinated by Jesswin, who escapes despite an invisible, pistol-toting Kham.
Evidence was planted by Jesswin to implicate the PCs in an attack on the Temple of Althares, so they hoof it over there to prepare the brothers for a siege. Disguised cultists infiltrate the temple and attack. IlmarÄ— and K'Ral have a showdown, elorii vs. ssanu. The elorii wins.
Finally, Thuron reveals that he is in fact K'Stallo, a benevolent ssanu priest who worships Yig. He unveils a note they discovered that clearly implicates the PCs as well as Milton Drac with the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign.
