In an effort to learn more about the suspicious suicide of Frederick Haddon, the Player Characters decide to investigate further. Sebastian Arnyal, Vlad Martell, and Beldin Soulforge investigate Frederick's body, while IlmarÄ— Galen and Kham val'Abebi investigate the Tombs. Price provides a curious suicide note and the corpse reveals a strange transformation that ended only when Frederick died.

They next investigate his dorm room at the Freeport Institute. Sebastian's Shield contact, Wilimina Gertz, gives them full access to his room, only to discoer that Frederick's roommate, Hayden Judson, has fled. They pursue, ultimately learning that Frederick owed money to Finn. They also discover vials of ghoul juice in the room, and Kham instantly becomes addicted when he swigs a vial to test it.

That's when hired mercenaries Garadon, Glinfield, Thaim Hammerforge, Marta, and Rooster attack. Garadon escapes and, unbeknownst to our heroes, Rooster is teleported back to Hell's Triangle as a contigency kicks in to keep him alive. All the other mercenaries die at Sebastian's fireballs.

A summons from Finn val'Borda himself brings Kham to the legendary crime lord's office. There, Finn proclaims his innocence -- he did not have Frederick murdered, but a shady individual known as the Well-Dressed Man did. This Well-Dressed Man is a drug dealer who distributes ghoul juice on the streets of Freeport. Finn lets Kham know to deliver a message, preferably at the end of a pistol to the forehead. He also dangles another piece of information: Kham's father, Corinalous val'Abebi, is being held hostage by the Well-Dressed Man.
