Vlad grew up on a farm in Moratavia, tilling the land until he was called upon to join a canton under Duke Adolphos val'Tensen. That's when he discovered that he was good at killing people.

Unfortunately, Vlad's ability to kill people has gotten him the wrong kind of attention. He is a guileless, straightforward man who believes in solving conflicts with his sword. He was no match for a Censuri spy who implied he attempted to ravish her, which ultimately lost Vlad favor with Thralen Vodric. This vulnerability sometimes manifests itself on the battlefield as well, be it inspiration from IlmarÄ— Galen's music or a susceptibility to magical influences.

On the other hand, Vlad received the Order of Drac for thwarting the Brotherhood of the Yellow Sign in Freeport. He was recently named the beadle of Duke Adolphos, which spells trouble for Vlad's relationship with the straightlaced Coryani legionnaire, Quintus Aurelius Ignatius.

Vlad is in awe of Elabac, whom he calls "Master Elabac." He admires Quintus, who has taught him discipline in combat. Ultimately, Vlad just wants to find a nice Milandisian girl, but it seems he has a ways to go before he can realistically consider settling down.
